Nelson Alward |
Nelson Alward holds a Masters in Adult Education from University of New Brunswick, a BSC from Mount Allison University and the Aquaculture Technician Certificate from NBCC St. Andrews.
Nelson has worked in the aquaculture industry for 25 years in various capacities including: fish hatchery and sea cage technician, fish hatchery and sea cage manager, programs manager for NBSGA, surveillance coordinator for the province of NB DAFA, and for the past 10 years, instructor or the NBCC Aquaculture Technician Program at St. Andrews.
Nelson has worked closely with and served on many committees within the aquaculture industry, too numerous to list here, and has enjoyed every experience in his professional development. Some of his most recent educational forays have been to work with two different training institutions in Chile. NBCC’s relationships made with Latin American educators and ACCC have flourished into many contractual exchange opportunities for instructors and students alike. Back |

Wayne Carson |
Wayne Carson has been a faculty member since 2003. Before joining NBCC, he worked in the heavy equipment trade as a technician and supervisor, working extensively in forestry, construction, mining and boat repair.
Four years, Mc Adam Plywood plant as technician and supervisor for mobile equipment.
Two years, Georgia Pacific as technician on forestry and construction equipment. Receiving training in diesel engine, hydraulics systems and power train.
Four years, Mount Pleasant Tungsten Mine. Working underground and surface as technician on pneumatic, hydraulic and diesel powered equipment.
Five years, DOT. Worked as a technician, on heavy equipment, plow trucks and vessels for the provincial ferry system.
Fourteen years, TAC Industries. Working on diesel engines, hydraulics systems and power train related to the forest industry .
While working in the industry he has earned certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair and received a certificate in Adult Education from UNB. Back |

Kelly Chase |
Kelly Chase has been a faculty member in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management since 2003. She worked and managed in the industry for twenty years, traveled extensively and enjoys sharing her passion for travel and tourism with the students. Her teaching is focused in all areas on the travel and tourism industry. She also assists with the orientation and facilitation of the international component of the International Travel and Tourism program.
Before joining NBCC, Kelly worked as a Travel Consultant and then went on to manage an office for a mega-agency for several years. While working in the travel industry, she earned her certification as an accredited cruise counselor through the Cruise Lines International Association. She was awarded Manager of the Year for Sears Travel across Canada in 1991 in recognition of outstanding performance and customer service. She was in the position of Business Development Lead for a large retailer and gained valuable experience as part of her responsibility was creating customer enthusiasm.

Kimberley Fillmore has been a faculty member of the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management since 2003. She specializes in conventions, banquets, food and beverage service and management. Before joining NBCC, Kimberley worked over 15 years in a variety of management positions for Fairmont Hotels and Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts. She worked in properties in the Alberta and New Brunswick. Allan Gray |
Allan has been a faculty member and administrator at NBCC St. Andrews campus since 1996. He is currently the Coordinating Instructor for the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management and teaches tourism courses and facilitates international orientation for various programs. Allan works closely with all international programs, educational partners and special projects linked to NBCC St. Andrews campus.
Allan is an alumnus of NBCC St. Andrews campus and has extensive experience working in the global travel and tourism sectors. Prior to coming to NBCC St. Andrews campus, Allan was the manager of a major Canadian retail travel agency chain and has many years of business management experience.

Mitchell Haskins |
Mitchell Haskins has been a faculty member of the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management since 1997 returning to the Hospitality Industry between 2001 and 2003. In December 2003, he rejoined the faculty at NBCC St. Andrews . Although his background has primarily been in the hotel industry, he currently facilitates core courses that deal with general, tourism management issues. Along with these, Mitchell is also involved in delivering Food and Beverage Management courses including Food and Beverage Restaurant Analysis.
Before joining NBCC, Mitchell worked in management positions for Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts, as well as independent franchise operations such as Ramada and Howard Johnson.

David Irvin |
Chef David Irvin is the lead instructor of New Brunswick Community College St Andrews Campus Culinary program. With his imagination, flair and passion for food, he guides and moulds the skills of the next generation’s great chefs. Learning by doing is paramount for Irvin who tries to instill students with skills that will prepare them for entry into kitchens in North America and abroad.
This Saint John native’s love for food has taken him around the globe cooking and learning in places as diverse as Western Europe and Australia. His travel has given Chef David a multi-cultural perspective on the culinary arts.
Formerly the personal chef and function coordinator to the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, the Honorable Marilyn Trenholm-Counsell, Chef David has extensive catering, hotel and restaurant experience.

Maurice LaKing |
Maurice LaKing has been a faculty member at NBCC St. Andrews Campus since July 04, 2000. Education: St. Stephen High School, IDP Certificate from UNB, Fredericton NB.
Qualification Certificates: Motor Vehicle Repair Mechanical; Heavy Equipment Repair Mechanical; Truck & Trailer Repair. Certificates also obtained in Deutz Engine Overhaul; Cummins Fuel System Overhaul and Calibration, and the Detroit Diesel Engine Overhaul Guild.
Employment: Operated Auto Service Station; Worked in mining as a surface and underground mechanic, on surface vehicles and heavy under ground equipment; Worked at the Department of Transportation on all government equipment, and Ferry system, before leaving (after 17 years) , worked as a shop foreman and vehicle repair superintendant. Rob Lemmon |
Rob Lemmon has been a faculty member in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management since 2000. He is one of the primary Adventure Leadership Instructors.
Before joining NBCC, Rob worked for the New Brunswick Department of Tourism & Parks developing adventure training programs for tourism operators, and risk management plans for provincial parks. Rob is currently the Vice-President of CanoeKayakNB and sits on the national development committees for canoeing and whitewater kayaking in Canada.

Karen Ludwig |
Karen Ludwig has been instructing courses at NBCC St. Andrews since 1996. She has taught courses in the business and technology areas. Along with delivering business fundamentals courses in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management, Karen is the campus E-Learning Leader.
Prior to joining NBCC, Karen was the senior researcher and project manager at the Human Development Council , delivered Sociology courses at UNB SJ, owned and managed a community research consulting business in Saint John, and promoted and marketed education training to small and medium sized businesses in Charlotte County.

Rick Mason |
Rick has been a faculty member of NBCC St. Andrews since 2002. After graduating from the Electrical program at NBCC in 1991 he was employed with electrical contractors and worked on residential, commercial, and industrial jobs. Just prior to teaching he was employed as a maintenance electrician at a particle board mill.
Rick is also an organizer of the Provincial Skills Competition in Electrical Wiring for the province of New Brunswick.

Joe Miller |
Joe has been a faculty member in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management since 1999. He teaches in the Adventure Leadership specialty which focuses on leadership development, personal growth, social stewardship and various adventure activities. Currently, Joe’s teaching is focused in Leadership, Program Design and Delivery, Adventure Leadership Trends and Issues and a variety of Adventure Activities including Sea Kayaking, Canoeing, Moving Water Instruction and Land Based Travel.
In addition to his faculty role, Joe has been actively involved in the Adventure Tourism industry. Joe holds many national certifications, is involved in a variety of national and regional committees and is co-owner of a seasonal sea kayaking operation. Through this background, Joe brings both the theoretical and applied knowledge of this dynamic industry into his classroom.

William Murray |
William has been a faculty member in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management since 2001. He is a management generalist, teaching courses in core fundamental areas to the majority of specialties in HTM/IB. Currently, his teaching is focused in marketing, human resources, and applied business management.
Before joining NBCC, William worked in management positions for Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts. Cynthia Parker |
Cyndy Parker has over 25 years experience in the Travel and Tourism Industry in both New Brunswick and Ontario. She joined the New Brunswick Community College St. Andrews in 1991 and for two years prior to that taught tourism at a private business college. Her specialty is working with travel agency and tour wholesaler operations.
Cyndy received her Certified Travel Counsellor designation in 1987 from the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors and has maintained close ties to the CITC since. She has served as president of the CITC – Atlantic Canada region.

Markus Ritter |
Trained in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Master Chef Markus Ritter has been in the business of food since 1984 and a master chef since 1998.
After a two and a half year apprenticeship under master chef Klaus Stadler in Germany, Ritter worked at the Hotel Schachener Hof in Lindau. He then went to Gstaad, Switzerland where he was chef at Le Grand Chalet. Next, Ritter traveled aboard the Royal Viking Sea cruise ship, where he prepared wonderful dishes as the ship sailed to USA, Canada, Australia, Asia and New Zealand.
The IFA Hotel in Wildenthal, Austria was Ritter's next stop before earning his Masters certificate in cooking in 1998, at Baden-Baden, Germany. After managing at Max & Moritz, Ritter became Sous Chef at Weinstube Gierer in Wasserburg, Germany where he was featured on the German television show, Fahr'mal Hin.
Today, Ritter combines all his experience and knowledge to create a dining experience you will not soon forget at Europa Inn & Restaurant in St. Andrews. Since 2007 he also is a chef instructor at NBCC St. Anderws.

Leslie Smith |
Leslie Smith has been a faculty member in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management since 2001. He teaches business courses in HTM/IB. Currently, his teaching is focused in Business Communications and International Trade Law. As well Leslie is responsible for managing student exchange programs for study in the United States and Mexico.
Leslie previously taught at Lambton College in Sarnia, Ontario. Starting as a hotel chef, he worked through to the position of general manager. Leslie has worked for large hotel and restaurant chains as a regional manager of operations, specializing in new location openings and management training.
Leslie completed his culinary training at the New Brunswick Institute of Technology. He holds the Inter-provincial Red Seal certification as a chef. . As well, Leslie is a certified trainer in three of the most recognized food safety and hygiene programs in North America.
